Allison's Texas BBQ

Allison's Texas BBQ is fabulous!! I am from Texas and it reminds me of home. My husband is from AZ and he loves it! The sides are stupendous! The potatoe salad, the beans, the coleslaw -- are all YUMMY! Then there is the BBQ -- the sausage links, the brisket, the pork, EVERYTHING is just down home good! We recently had our son in the hospital and plan to use Allison's for a "Thank you" to the staff and have a meal catered to them! Keep up the good work guys -- your food is just simply wonderful and your service is friendly!

I will be adding my review of local establishments that I think are noteworthy once a month. I feel that although I am an advocate of cooking more at home, I am also supportive of those individuals who strike out on their own and fulfill one of the American dreams, and that is owning your own business. It has become extremely difficult to compete against multi-million dollar companies with the advertisement budget to match. They also set their establishments next to ma&pa shops in lower rent mini-malls and strip malls that used to be the domain of the small business owner. Small bistros and restaurants sharing family recipes and labor intensive foods cooked with heart and soul are becoming extinct as well as their wonderful recipes. These restaurants not only provide wonderful dining experiences as well as a person sense of customer service, but they also provide foods that are less processed and cooked in manner that you can replicate in your own homes. This month I will start with an establishment that is offering an item especially close to my heart...BBQ. I when I say that I do not mean grilled or covered in sauce. I am talking about smoked slow and low, with the real wood smoke billowing from a real seasoned black pit, beckoning you, no commanding you to enter its domain! Allison's Texas BBQ just recently opened up at the end of 2011 and has been serving up some of the best Hill County Texas BBQ I have ever had outside of Texas. The brisket, Pork shoulders, chicken and Ribs are smoked slow and low right outside the back door on a custom smoker trailer that is carefully tended by the owner himself. The simplicity of the salt and pepper rub prior to smoking lends to the confidence in the quality of meat they are serving. The ribs which were my favorite lived up to their motto "it's so good, you will want seconds, so you can lick your finger's twice!" No sauce needed! Although if sauce it what you desire there were a selection of three sauces on the table (sweet, sassy, and spicy), but you will have to try them for yourself, the smoke was good enough for me. The King Ranch Beans were good enough for my wife, who isn't really a fan of BBQ beans, to steal most of them from me, and the Nannie's Corn Souffle was so good, a crumb had yet to found on my plate. Allison's Texas BBQ is fantastic. I live in Utah and am visiting the area and was very fortunate to find Allisons Texas BBQ. Being in a new area to visit is difficult in finding good places to eat and I have now found my favorite. The ribs are fabulous, the brisket is the best I have tasted (and I have been to Texas...), and the sides are to die for!! The prices are ridiculously low...you will certainly get MORE than what you pay for and in this economy, it is most appreciated. I can't forget to mention the service...this place is family owned and they treat you like you are a part of the family. Being away from home, this is a great "how do ya do" to me and I LOVE IT! Mesa is going to be on my "places to visit" from now on and I know just where I am going to eat! Thanks y'all!! :)

Allison's Texas BBQ is a great place to meet as a group. The staff is friendly and personable and the prices are very reasonable. My husband is a meat guy but I'm all about the SIDES. This place has outstanding potato salad, its fluffy and fresh and had a good blend of flavors and textures BIG thumbs up! The corn souffle is yummy - don't know what's in there, don't want to know but I would have eaten more if good manners had not prevailed. All I ask is that they add some Sour Pickles and whip up one sauce that is not hinting on the sweet side, some real rough & ready tangy sauce that goes towards the sour/bitter/salty folks like me! GOOD STUFF GUYS - glad you are in town!

Allison's Texas BBQ is pretty dang good. Everyone knows the Phoenix area is not known for good BBQ. Allison's Texas BBQ, newly opened in east mesa, is a definite exception. I came in on Tuesday and they had a rib special going, a full rack for 10 bucks. I thought it wouldn't be very good quality at that price but they were falling off the bone. Can't wait to go back. Service was great too.

Being from Texas, I have had lots of letdowns in the BBQ department since being in AZ. I was really surprised by the quality of the BBQ at Allison's Texas BBQ. Its all dry rub, authentic Texas style BBQ, and the ribs were the best I've had in a long time. It's family owned and operated, and unlike Waldo's they actually seem to be glad to see ya and are super nice people. If you like barbeque you have to check it out. I'm a new regular.

Allison's Texas BBQ has a very welcoming atmosphere, very comfortable. I love-love the corn soufflé, slaw, sheet cake....but, the Chopped Brisket is the topper! Always look forward to going back, and routinely telling everyone I know about this place! I definitely want this place to stick around!!!

We went in and were really pleased with the food. It smells incredible which is what got us to try it in the first place. The brisket is the best in the valley. and the pecan pie is the best I've ever had. This is great bbq and the price was more than reasonable for 4 of us to eat.

We went over to the restaurant and really enjoyed the food. We tried the brisket and pulled pork and both were delicious! The corn souffle is incredible. We will definitely be going back!

The BBq at Allison's Texas BBQ was fantastic. We stopped by on Tuesday night for the rib special and it was incredible. I have eaten BBQ all over the Phoenix area, and have found a place to call home for quality que! The folks running it are great, but the food makes it. I hope they do well!

Allison's Texas BBQ is the most original BBQ I have ever tasted. They do not disguise their meats with BBQ Sauce ; you see the real stuff with sauce on the side. Tasty, tasty, tasty..........!
